Party Planning 101

I know you have been to parties and left saying, "Wow, that was a great party!" You can be a great party thrower too! The most important thing about planning a party is planning ahead and being prepared.

I love to throw parties and have done all kinds: kids birthday parties, bridal showers, Christmas parties, etc. The first thing you have to determine is what is your Theme going to be. For instance, I had a birthday party for my son years ago and we decided to throw a "Slime Birthday Party". Once you have your party theme then it is time for the planning.

Next, came the guest list and invitations. I found cute invitations that pictured slime running down the front of the card. You can also look online and find all kinds of party invitations you can buy, have made, or email. The choices are endless!

Now for what to do at the party. Try to use creativity and think of some fun games you can play with the kids. I had some of the standard party games but since it was a "Slime Party" I created a game where every kid got slimmed! (I also noted on the invitations to wear clothes that could get very dirty) So we played a game that every kid had to walk under a bucket and got slimmed with goo! The kids loved it! It was summer and afterwards we hosed the kids off.

We also played another game, "Hit my mom with a pie!" I filled aluminum pie plates with whip cream and let every kids get a chance to toss a pie and try to hit me. What kid doesn't wish to do that! They had a blast and it was harmless!!

Make sure all your decorations coordinate with your party theme. It is not hard to decorate and you don't have to go all out. For this party I bought a cheap green plastic table cover, green and yellow cups, had a clear bowl of green jello on the table, etc.

Parties don't have to be hard but with a little planning can be one of the funnest things you do!
